London Pensions Fund Authority appoints Penrose Financial
London, 22 September 2009 - The London Pensions Fund Authority (LPFA) has appointed Penrose Financial as Public Relations adviser.
LPFA administers a £3 billion pension fund providing Local Government Pension Scheme benefits to almost 20,000 employees. It is the latest major UK pension fund to appoint Penrose, which already advises the Universities Superannuation Scheme and the Barclays UK Retirement Fund, along with other pensions industry advisors, consultants and asset managers.
The Penrose team advising LPFA is led by Sally Todd, Managing Partner, with Andy Fleming, Associate Director and Lisa Haines, Senior Account Manager.
Commenting on appointing Penrose, Chief Executive of LPFA, Mike Taylor, said:
"We are committed to proactive and constructive input to the debate on the future of public service pensions and in particular the Local Government Pensions Scheme. LPFA is well placed, with the help of Penrose, to clear away some of the half truths surrounding the debate. We are not approaching this with any pre-conceptions, but we do want all stakeholders to be well-informed, focusing on facts, not myth."
Penrose Managing Partner, Sally Todd, said: "Media discussion surrounding local authority pensions has tended to generate more heat than light to date. We are delighted to be working with LPFA to help establish a clear factual context for the ongoing debate surrounding local authority pension provision."
